It’s the little moments like these that you take the time to appreciate.

Ever since she was a baby, Trevor and I have been reading books to Lauren at her bedtime. She learned to read relatively soon compared to her peers, and we haven’t been able to keep her away from books ever since. She spends a great deal of time around the house reading chapter books about adventure--she especially loves detective stories.

Despite the fact that she is fully capable of reading on her own, she still frequently asks me and Trevor to read to her. And how could we say no? Reading is such a good hobby to have. The more she reads, the more her imagination seems to open up.

Today, Lauren came running up to me asking for Christmas lights. She told me she was building a fort and that it needed better lighting. So I dug some up, and she strung them around her little fortress. Immediately after, she asked me if I would come inside and read to her.

It’s the little moments like these that you just have to take the time to appreciate.
