It’s good to see that some things never change.
Lauren’s 7th birthday was yesterday. She asked for my help (which she never does because she’s so independent) to pick out the perfect outfit for her party. I was touched. For as much as she loves sports and books, that girl also loves to be in photos. She’s a bit of a ham.
She wanted to do a birthday party at the skating rink, but they were closed due to some renovations. Instead, she decided that a sleepover would do just fine. She had five girls over, and we bought all of them t-shirts to decorate. Fabric markers and stencils were scattered across the dining room table, and they looked to be really enjoying all of it.
Trevor went to the store to stock up on snacks--probably to get away from six, seven-year-old females more than anything else. When he returned, Lauren was absolutely thrilled by the display of Goldfish, Oreos, and Grapes he brought back.
After the t-shirts, the girls gathered in the living room around the Wii. First it was Just Dance, then it was a Barbie makeover game. Since not everyone could play at once, the girls took turns sitting on the couch and shouting what style of clothes Barbie should wear next.
It’s good to see that some things never change.
Their parents will be here to pick them all up soon, but I really don’t mind all these girls being here. It’s nice to have so much youthfulness and fun in the house.
